On Tuesday I spent the day exploring a few back roads and feeder creeks that flow into a river near Denver that I enjoy to fish. February is not an ideal month to explore these types of places (unplowed forest road and iced over streams) but my curiosity and a new subscription to OnX Maps got the best of me.

To basically sum things up, I didn’t find any feeder streams that had any open water but I did find a number of cool roads and old land features that made me think about what it must have been like out here during the gold rush years.
Towards the end of the day I went down to the bigger water of the river and checked out a few sections that I hadn’t known were public before using OnX maps. Found a few really nice spots and caught a handful of fish.
Great day exploring the mountains!
